For instance, with environmental concerns in mind, our main supplier of all our stock boxes has made their manufacturing even more sustainable by avoiding the use of external transport during any part of the procedure. A fully automated process sees the corrugated sheet board ordered from the mill released only when called off, arriving from the warehouse via conveyor before it is loaded on to a case-maker.
As reputable packaging suppliers we take seriously our responsibility to the environment and our impact on it. We hold the ISO14001 environmental standard and we are registered to ISO9001:2000 which confirms our commitment to the highest level of service and products, alongside the OHSAS18001 health and safety standard.
We also understand that our customers are accountable for their own corporate social responsibility (CSR) values and objectives, so it is important to us to supply the products that will help them adhere to their environmental policy.
It is the Lightning policy to provide environmentally friendly packaging where availability and quality allow, and we work closely with our partner packaging manufacturers to achieve this.
Our aim is to supply recycled, recyclable and reusable products wherever possible and to deliver orders avoiding waste or damage. Not only is our LOOP cardboard packaging all made from 100% recycled content and is 100% recyclable we are also continually adding new eco-friendly biodegradable products to our ranges. This means we can offer realistic alternatives to the traditional plastic or other packaging materials that are not easily recycled and so often go to landfill.
